Colorful Winter Fashion Photoshoot

My friend Delaney and I put together this fun colorful fashion photoshoot a while ago – and then life hit. Classes, family, Europe, work – all these things happened, and I never got around to editing this fun photoshoot. That changed this week!

I’ve been dying to create some more fashion work, and while I’m in the midst of planning some, editing these photos helped me be patient!

It was so fun working with Taylor and Jade. They are both talented models who have worked with many boutiques and clothing companies in Utah. I loved pairing the bright clothes in their outfits with the different colors on the walls.

The primary colors – yellow, red, and blue – in this image really make it pop!

I love working with color in my photography because color is AMAZING. Color can make us feel all sorts of feelings. Red typically creates a lot of energy, and is associated with anger, aggression, romance, and sexuality. Yellow tends to be bright, happy, and is actually the “loudest” color that you can use. Green feels natural, organic, and healthy. Blue tends to be calming, peaceful, and even sad.

Creating color combinations is so fun. Complimentary colors, like blue and yellow, create contrast and interest in photos.

Color makes a huge impact on images and branding. Did you know there’s a lot of science behind what colors are best for specific businesses and brands? It’s important to be mindful about what colors you are using, because they really impact how people perceive you and your brand.
