Fall Mugs | Pretty Phoxie Co

A few weeks ago the ladies at Pretty Phoxie Co reached out to me to photograph their fall themed mugs. As a small business photographer these cute lettered mugs were so fun to style & photograph!

To style this shoot, I gathered cute fall decorations that I had around my home and in local shops. My favorite touch was the jewel corn – this beautiful multicolored corn I bought. The colors in it are so beautiful! Growing up, my mom grew jewel corn in the garden, and this always reminds me of her.

I also knew that delicious pastries always go well with cute mugs and hot chocolate (or coffee, if you prefer that!). I decided to make these cute pumpkin scones! This recipe is one that is meant to taste like the ones at Starbucks. Here’s the recipe, in case you want to make them yourself!

Pumpkin Scones

2 cups flour

7 TB sugar

1 TB baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/4 tsp ginger

6 TB cold butter, cut into small cubes

1/2 cup canned pumpkin

3 TB half & half

1 egg

Cinnamon Spiced Glaze

1 cup + 3 TB powdered sugar

2 TB milk

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp nutmeg

pinch of ginger

pinch of cloves

Directions:

  1. Make the Scones. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Use a fork or pastry blender to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture is crumbly. Set aside!
  2. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the pumpkin, half and half, and egg. Fold the wet ingredients into the dry until they are mixed well – but don’t overmix! Then put the dough on a kneading surface. Knead the dough a few times until it’s completely combined.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, and cut into triangles. Place the scones on the baking sheet, and bake for 14-16 minutes!
  4. Make the Glaze: Whisk together each of the ingredients until the mixture is smooth. Use a spoon to drizzle the glaze over each scone!

These scones are so tasty, and are perfect for fall!

I hope you liked the recipe, and the photos! I love being a small business photographer. Whether you’re an artist selling your work on etsy, or a small business owner, I would love to help you create beautiful images for your pieces! Contact me here if you’re interested in working together!
