Early this summer Natalie Ales asked me to photograph her in these cute summer dresses by ModLi boutique. I love doing fashion work, so of course I said yes! Modli is a fashion shop that provides beautiful, chic, and intentionally modest clothing for women. The company has grown to have over 150 boutiques around the country. They have been featured in Forbes Magazine, Fortune, and other magazines and news channels.
After seeing the dresses, I could see why! These items were soft, flowy, comfortable, and so cute. They fit well, and had pretty nature inspired patterns to choose from.
I’m so glad I could work with Natalie on this shoot! She is a newly married student at BYU who has recently started modeling for boutiques. She has grown a love for modeling, and is quite good at it. I loved working with her because she was happy, kind, and fun to talk to. It was a joy to work with her, and I hope to work with her again in the future!
About the Shoot
We were a bit nervous about the weather before this shoot! About an hour before we met in the canyon, it was gloomy and rainy. Luckily the sun came out and gave beautiful lighting for these shots. As you can see, the lighting started out as a bit harsh, but it looked really pretty with the canyon and the flowers. Harsh lighting can be difficult to work with, but it’s beautiful when it’s done well!
The best part of this session was being in nature, taking these beautiful photographs of Natalie and Modli’s designs. One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is that you are always photographing new things in new places. It was so fun, and I look forward to doing more fashion shoots in the future!
